Meet Helena Shepherd and Erica Larson, owners of Classic Pilates Center in Wixom, MI. Helena and Erica are dedicated to preserving the original teachings of Joseph H. Pilates at their studio, emphasizing a personalized approach, focusing on individuals and small groups, and takes pride in the studio's Gratz equipment—the same brand Pilates used himself.

At Classic Pilates Center, they believe that everybody can do Pilates. “At our studio,” Helena explains, “everyone is welcome, and we know that we will be able to work with the person in front of us, and that they will feel better and benefit from each session!”

The inspiration to start Classic Pilates Center came from both Helena and Erica, who worked together in a large gym. Realizing their shared mindset and passion for classical Pilates, they embarked on a journey to create a studio that welcomes people of all abilities and ages. Helena reflects on their motivation, stating, "Because every individual has unique needs and goals, we set out to create a Pilates studio that welcomed all abilities and ages while giving each person the private attention that was necessary." The studio offers both in-person and online sessions.

Owning Classic Pilates Center brings them joy in educating people about Pilates and witnessing the positive impact on individuals. Helena expresses, "We love being able to educate people about Pilates, teach how their body moves more efficiently, and to make each individual feel better than when they walked into the studio." Additionally, the studio owners find fulfillment in passing their knowledge to other Pilates instructors and fostering a community of growth. They practice what they preach, ensuring that all instructors engage in Pilates sessions regularly to stay connected with the method.
