Kelly Ventura is a Michigan-based watercolor artist who brings her love of nature into the home with the expressive strokes of her paint brush.

After college, Kelly moved to New York, then Connecticut as a studio assistant for boutique wallpaper and rug companies. It was here that Kelly discovered surface design and how to bring a sketch to life on a product. After five years designing product for a gift and home wholesaler, Kelly began building her namesake brand and a list of freelance clients.

Nature is a constant source of inspiration for Kelly; with its changing seasons, there is always a delightful surprise to capture. Color, texture, light, flowers and leaves are reoccurring themes in Kelly’s work, which she brings to life through her well-known gestural style. With natural motifs and earthy color schemes, the artist’s watercolor images translate beautifully to decor, fabrics and wallpapers for the home.

In her spare time, the artist paints, thrifts, collects chairs, and enjoys spending time with her husband and three young boys.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Women In Milford

Artistic juices were flowing on Wednesday night at Kelly Ventura’s studio in downtown Milford for our September Meetup!  One step into the third floor studio and you are transported to a world of quiet beauty, surrounded by the most stunning florals, lush greenery, and soft lighting.  It is truly a magical place.

Members mingled over wine and cheese, taking in the art surrounding them, as everyone arrived.  Kelly then gave a casual watercolor demo, explaining her color,  brush, and stroke choices, as she effortlessly turned a blank canvas into a bouquet before our eyes.

Ventura, along with her sister Jen, and local artist Abigail Powers, passed out paper and brushes and walked around as members created their own masterpieces, sipped wine, and learned more about each other, while discovering their own inner-artist.

Great big thank you to Kelly and Jen for offering their space, time, and tools to Women In Milford, and a very special thanks to Abigail for helping each member with their technique!  It was most definitely a night we won’t soon forget!

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their September - Fall will be here before you know it!  Don’t forget, Women In Milford is sponsoring the showing of Wayne’s World at the Milford Independent Cinema on Monday, September 19th (there are bets going on whether or not Marie dresses up as Garth!) at 7PM; admission is FREE!

And lastly, the 2022 Women In Milford Gala is almost sold out, so if you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, be sure to head over to www.womeninmilford.com to purchase yours today - it’s a community event for all and the proceeds are going to benefit Haven of Oakland County.
